     Useful words in Maths

    Here are some more words that you'll come across in Maths lessons. Using the chart as a guide, try to memorize all of them.
    WORD SYLLABLES DIFFICULT BITS
    multiplication mul-ti-pli-ca-tion
    parallel par-al-lel -ll-
    parallelogram par-al-lel-o-gram (easy when you break it up into syllables)
    negative neg-a-tive
    perimeter per-i-me-ter ending: -ter (not tre)
    perpendicular per-pen-dic-u-lar (pronounce it carefully)
    positive pos-i-tive
    quadrilateral quad-ri-lat-er-al  
    radius ra-di-us
    regular reg-u-lar -lar (not -ler)
    rhombus rhom-bus don't forget -h-
    rotation ro-ta-tion  
    subtraction sub-trac-tion
    symmetrical sym-met-ri-cal -y-,   -mm-
    triangle tri-an-gle -le,  (not al)
    vertical ver-tic-al ending is -al this time!
    volume vol-ume
