Adding a suffix to words ending y
With these words you need to notice whether there isa vowel or a consonant immediately before the y.
For example:

| destroy | pity |
* If the word ends in a vowel +y the base word doesn't change:
- delay + ed = delayed
employ + ment = employment
then change the y to i:
- reply + ed = replied
busy + ness = business
pity + ful = pitiful
but reply + ing = replying
