Spelling: Adding suffixes to words ending in y

    In the previous worksheet we learned the following patterns:

    * If the word ends in a vowel +y the base word
    doesn't change:
      delay + ed = delayed and employ + ment = employment
    * If the word ends in a consonant +y,
    when you add any suffix except -ing,
    then change the y to i:
      reply + ed = replied,     busy + ness = business
      pity + ful = pitiful;     but reply + ing = replying
